Who gets a free RSV vaccine?

RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) can hit older adults hard. Alberta funds one RSV vaccine for:

  • Adults 70 and older living in the community
  • Adults 60 and older living in continuing care or seniors supportive living
  • First Nations, Metis and Inuit people 60 and older
  • New from October 1, 2026: adults 18 to 69 who have had a lung or stem cell transplant, use home or chronic oxygen, or are on dialysis

Right now only one RSV dose is needed in a lifetime. If you already had yours, you do not need another one this year.

Can I get more than one vaccine in a visit?

Ask our pharmacist. Many people can get their flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine in the same visit, and the pharmacist will check your history and recommend what makes sense for you.
